PRO BIKE TOOL AMBASSADOR
Why do I ride? That is a tough question. I have always ridden, since I was just a kid. Bicycles and racing have been synonymous with my name for as long as I can remember. This is the first time I have stopped to think about “why” rather than “when” do I ride.
Love: I love the freedom to go anywhere and the sights that can only be seen by bicycle. I love the unknown of a long ride and the people I meet along the way.
Belongingness: The bicycle community in one place/group of people who speak my language and share a love for the same thing. Never do I feel out of place when I am among my fellow cycling addicts.
Fitness: Cycling is the reason and the method for getting in shape. It gives me a reason to eat well, sleep well, and take care of myself overall.
Results: I love the feeling of training all winter, emerging from the pain cave, and witnessing the results at races and on my favorite Strava segments. Self-actualization: “What a man can be, he must be.” – Maslow. If I didn’t ride, then I honestly feel like I would be wasting the time invested in the skills and fitness gained over the years.
THE YEAR AHEAD?
My main goal for 2019 is to establish myself in the Colorado cycling community. I look forward to leading group rides, planning trips, and just generally being connected within the community. I love coaching my athletes and look forward to next season.
My goal is to help each athlete reach an all new level of fitness and to hit their goals. As far as racing goes, I would like to perform well at the Ridgeline Rampage, Battle the Bear, the Breck 100, the Colorado Rattler MTB Series, and the Leadville 100 OR the Breck Epic.
There are a few big Strava segments that I have my sights set on for the early spring, but I am not giving their names up just yet.<
