I ride for myself and for the sheer fact that I’m addicted. Every second on the bike thrashing myself up Great Dunn Fell is worthwhile due to the opportunities that cycling has given me, such as the people I’ve met and the places I’ve been to. Finally, I cycle in the hope that one day I might inspire the next generation of riders, like my sporting heroes have done for me.
Ed Clancy, Laura Kenny, Sam Bennett, Hugh Carthy, Guy Martin To name a few, the list is endless
THE YEAR AHEAD?
All in all, my goal in cycling is to enjoy it; as the gambling adverts say “when the fun stops, STOP.” I want to train hard and be the best cyclist I can be. Long term, regarding road racing, I would like to win a National B RR and race abroad. I feel like if I had a good team around me, I’d improve very quickly. Therefore one of my goals for the future would be to get into a race team. One of my big ambitions which is on the back-burner at the moment is to do a 10hr+ Mountain Bike endurance race (or a couple) as I’m really getting into my XC ATM bombing around Cumbria.
